As well as growing seedlings in our greenhouse, Paul and Karen Hamer also operate their own U-pick orchard. With 50 acres of U-pick saskatoon orchard, each summer people from all over southern Alberta visit the Saskatoon Farm to pick fresh saskatoons and to enjoy a day in the country! The saskatoons are usually ready for picking about mid July and we invite everyone to come and enjoy saskatoon pie in our Cafe and Gift Shop or in the old fashioned General Store in our western town, located at the U-pick orchard during U-pick season. As mentioned above, we offer U-pick facilities by supplying the pails for picking your berries. We charge $14.00 per 4 litre ice cream pail (averages 5 lbs.). For those who prefer to buy prepicked berries, we offer prepicked fruit in 4 litre pails for $20.00 per pail (based on availability).

Operating as a family business we enjoy having our families helping in our General Store serving the best homemade saskatoon pie imaginable! We also sell thirst quenching cold drinks, tea and coffee. We offer delicious soups, sandwiches and additional hearty breakfast and lunch items for those who happen to venture by with a hunger on!

In our general store we also sell Saskatoon and Chokecherry syrup, Saskatoon jam, vinaigrette, bucking hot sauce and saskatoon honey. We sell our famous buffalo sausages and burger and have farm fresh eggs gathered daily!

With the beautiful setting of the U-pick orchard on the banks of the Highwood River and our herd of Buffalo grazing on top of the hill it makes for a relaxing atmosphere and breathtaking surrounding. One that we're sure you'll want to come back to year after year!

As mentioned above, our U-pick orchard is generally open about mid July, and depending on weather conditions, U-pick season can last till mid August. We encourage you to contact us closer to U-pick season for updates regarding U-pick dates. During U-pick we are open 7 days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. At our farm we have easy access to our U-pick orchards with handicap parking facilities.

We operate a Garden Centre for those who wish to purchase larger plant material other than the one year old seedlings which we sell and distribute through our catalogue. Please note: larger stock is available for pick up only here at the farm.

Every year we sell a variety of small fruit tree species ranging from 2 year old stock to full maturity. The prices vary according to age and size. We will have our stock and price list available April 15th. If you are interested in coming to the farm to pick some of theses larger trees and want to know about the items available, we ask that you contact us around April 15th.

Our Garden Centre will be open April 15th through October 31st every day, including Sundays. Our hours of operation for our Garden Centre are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please see map for directions. The Garden Centre plants are tucked away for winter at the end of October but our Cafe and Gift Shop go strong all year long.
